Mary Plummer

Mary Plummer is an independent journalist living in New York City. Her work has been published in UWIRE, The Orange County Register and The Yomiuri Shimbun, which is published twice daily in Japan with a circulation of more than 14 million. She worked as a reporter for the Los Angeles bureau of the paper covering national breaking news and features including the Minneapolis bridge collapse and the 2008 presidential election.

Mary graduated with honors from Chapman University in 2007. During her tenure as editor in chief for the campus paper, she was selected as the 2006 Orange County Register Journalism Student of the Year. In 2007, she was awarded an outstanding student leadership award from the university.

Mary was born in Anchorage, Alaska and enjoys traveling and learning about peoples’ lives. She is currently a graduate student in broadcast journalism at Columbia University.
