Kibkabe Araya

Kibkabe Araya is originally from the Midwest, but mostly grew up on the East Coast and West Coast.

She worked on her high school newspaper, The Eagle Eye of El Camino Fundamental High School in Sacramento, CA, and as a staff writer, section editor, and copy editor for several college publications: The Spelman Spotlight of Spelman College, The Maroon Tiger of Morehouse College, Afro-Lution Magazine of the Atlanta University Center, and The Columbia Daily Spectator of Columbia University.

She interned at the National Weather Service in Sacramento; ESSENCE Magazine, a Time Inc. publication; and WSB-TV 2, the local ABC News affiliate in Atlanta, GA. She is a columnist at GREENandSAVE.com.

She graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, where she studied environmental science and policy and mathematics. During her junior year of college, she spent a year at Barnard College. She currently attends Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City.
