School Aides Cut Citywide; East Harlem Feels the Loss

In September, the city announced that it would cut more than 500 school aide positions to help absorb a 5 percent budget cut. The city and school aides’ union battled in court for weeks. But on Friday, time was up, and the jobs were cut. One school in East Harlem spent the week scrambling after it lost all five of its school aides.
